DRC & Zambia Handover Their Mineral Resources Right To The United States

Many social media users were outraged by this video after learning that two African nations, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia, reportedly sold their mineral rights to the United States of America. The governments of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo inked agreements granting America control over the production and supply chain of copper and cobalt for the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

This is the epitome of new colonialism.  If you pay close attention to the video, you can see the presidents of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed the agreement as they are seated in a conference room, indicating that the United States of America now holds their mining rights. The first to sign the papers was His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was followed by His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, president of Zambia.

In the video, a representative of the United States of America can be heard praising the leaders of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo for signing an agreement with the country. The US representative claimed that the market for electric vehicles is here to stay and is the future during the discussion. He added that Zambia produces the second-highest amount of copper and cobalt in Africa, behind the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which accounts for 70% of the continent's production of both metals.

They were therefore the ideal choice for making electric vehicles for the global market. President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and Hakainde Hichilema, according to the US official, won't ever regret striking such a significant agreement with the US government. However, sources claim that the US purchased the mineral rights to copper and cobalt from these two African nations.

This indicates that the United States of America's government is in charge of the nation's mineral resources. After watching this video, some social media users erupted in rage. This, according to them, is one of the causes of white people's lack of regard for black people. These presidents are selling the United States the mineral directly, as opposed to mining the copper and cobalt themselves and exporting them to the country. It will be challenging for African nations to develop because of this.

The leaders sign agreements that will benefit them while they are in power. The next president after them comes to bear the consequences of these unreasonable leaders.
